Meal Plan
We want to offer a farewell dinner on the last night of our high school vacation package. We think that having a special dinner to celebrate the end of the trip will be a memorable experience for those who choose our package. We decided to have a theme meal that was somewhat connected to our location because Orlando, Florida is home to more than a dozen theme parks, and we think the theme will be satisfying to our guests. We also thought that having a catered meal would be too difficult and hectic so we agreed to have our farewell dinner at a restaurant.
After looking at several restaurants, we felt Mythos Restaurant at Universal’s Islands of Adventure was a good fit. Its prices are manageable, and it has a nice, refreshing ambiance indoors. In addition to the dining room there is also outdoor seating offering a spectacular view of the park’s inland sea and vistas of the park’s colorful islands. Mythos Restaurant is a mythic underwater-themed spot with towering rock formations, cascading waterfalls and ancient figures carved into the side of the restaurant.
Mythos Restaurant does plated service, like most restaurants. The service is like your average American restaurant, where you order your food, have it prepared in the kitchen and then brought to you by a waitstaff. After considering the menu, we think $45 per person should cover the cost of a good meal for our guests.
The restaurant provides dishes along with silverware and glasses that can be washed and reused rather than disposable plates, silverware, etc. We will also contribute to a more environmentally friendly dinner by walking from our hotel to the restaurant.
Mythos’ menu offers a variety of options. We would plan to offer wood oven flatbread, pizza, and fried shrimp for appetizers, along with a choice of salad. We would offer five entree choices: beef, fish, sandwich/burger, pasta, and chicken. For dessert, we would offer dessert shots, which is in a tall glass with layers of deliciousness. Drinks include shakes, iced tea, water, and soda. Mythos offers several dishes to be prepared gluten free and a couple dishes to be prepared vegan.
At Mythos Restaurant, the average price for appetizers is $8. The average entree price is around $18. Desserts average around $10. Drinks like the shakes, iced tea, and soda average around $5. That means the average cost per person would be around $41. Allowing for a tip and for some variation in what people ordered, we should add about $45 to the total cost of our vacation package to cover this meal.
In conclusion, we think Mythos Restaurant at Universal’s Islands of Adventure will be a memorable place to hold the farewell dinner on the last night of our vacation package. The prices are within our budget, the menu offers plenty of variety, and the restaurant uses responsible practices and great trends, all of which will add up to a great farewell dinner.
